Like many of you, I ain’t from around these parts…! I was stationed here as a Navy pilot, and when I retired, I became a Virginia resident. I think life is good in Hampton Roads. My own small hometown in Kansas has now grown to a bustling population of 331, but it was less urban in my youth! My Midwestern family have been farmers and blue-collar workers for as far back as we know. I grew up in farmhouses without indoor plumbing. Yep, so imagine where the “bathroom” was! (Winters were cold; that’s where I got my speed!) We had party line phones early on. No A/C. Then we moved into a trailer house “in town.”
I was born into a wonderful consortium of huge Irish, Catholic families on the West Side of Cleveland, Ohio. Although I am the oldest of merely three children, my mom was one of ten, and hers was a relatively small family in that neighborhood. So we were constantly surrounded by aunts, uncles, and cousins—oh so many cousins!
Growing up, we not only knew everybody, but as my best friend would often remark when we went out and I would have to stop to talk to everybody we ran into, we were somehow related to everybody in town.
I was raised in Arkansas and grew up on the Mississippi River, spending a lot of time fishing, riding ATVs, and camping – just living the Huckleberry Life! Even at an early age, I had three passions: Law, reading, and running.
Luckily for me, I was an exceptional runner and was recruited to run for a private prep school, where I excelled. During my senior year, I was undefeated in the mile, two-mile, and in cross-country!
Accordingly, I was offered a track scholarship to run for the …
I hail from a small town in northeast Ohio. While I was in elementary school my father was stationed at Langley Air Force Base (now Joint Base Langley-Eustis) and even as a child I knew this area was special. I fell in love with Hampton Roads so much so that after joining the ranks of the most dominant air power in the world myself, I selected it as my first option for permanent duty. After completing two enlistments, I chose to pursue my childhood dream of becoming an attorney (an ambition set by too many Matlock and Perry Mason reruns growing up) and attended and graduated from Regent Law.
I am a native New Yorker, having grown up in the Bronx, “The Big Apple,” where I spent my early life. Over the years, my spiritual journey has led me south, first to the countryside of Pennsylvania and then to Lynchburg, Virginia, home of Liberty University. There, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies (Business and Theology) and a Master of Science in Business Management. I also hold a Juris Doctorate from Liberty University School of Law and have been a licensed attorney since 2012.
Once licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia, I began my legal practice with Holcomb Law in 2016. I spent seven (7) years primarily practicing traffic defense and family law in the various Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts spread throughout Hampton Roads, Virginia. During those years, I discovered that practicing family law was my passion, and that I deeply cared about advocating for people who were dealing with some of the most emotional and troubling legal battles that they would face in their entire lifetime.
I was raised in Baltimore City, Maryland, where I lived until I began high school. I won my first trial as a high school student when I defended myself against a stop sign violation.
I moved to Arlington, Virginia, while completing my B.A. in International Studies at The American University in DC. I also finished minors in Business and French. Subsequently, I relocated to Williamsburg where I earned my law degree at the William & Mary Law School in 1992.
I am a Virginia native, born in Newport News and raised in Seaford. I graduated from York High School before earning my Bachelor’s in Justice Studies and Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communications and my Master’s in Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communications from James Madison University. I received my Juris Doctor at Liberty University with a concentration in Family Law. I love music (listening, not playing), sports, and doing things with friends. I am a proud member of Theta Chi Fraternity. I am excited to join the Holcomb Law team and work for the people of this great area.
